Advania launches Advania ALT to help customers scale AI without losing control
AI is rapidly becoming a core capability for businesses and public sector organisations. But as adoption accelerates, so do the challenges. Customers are navigating fragmented AI tools, shadow AI, evolving regulation and growing dependence on a small number of global technology providers.
Advania developed Advania ALT around a simple principle: customers should not have to choose between AI innovation and control.
“AI is rapidly becoming core infrastructure for our customers. They should not have to choose between accessing the best AI capabilities and maintaining control of their data, compliance and technology choices. Advania ALT is an important step in our ambition to give customers both. It also shows what we can achieve when we combine our local market strength with shared capabilities across Advania,” says Hege Støre, CEO of Advania.
One platform, multiple AI models
Advania ALT, short for Advania AI Layer Technology, provides a common foundation for accessing and managing different AI models and services. Rather than tying customers to a single model or provider, Advania ALT enables them to select the technology best suited to each use case within a governed environment.
The platform supports both commercial and open-source AI models and is designed so that new models and services can be added or replaced as technology evolves. Governance, security, identity and auditability are built into the platform, giving customers greater freedom to adopt new AI capabilities without creating new dependencies or losing control over how AI is used.
“The AI market is developing incredibly quickly, with new models and capabilities emerging all the time. Customers need the freedom to take advantage of that development without giving up control. With Advania ALT, we separate control from the choice of AI technology. Customers can use the models that make most sense for each use case, while governance, security and sovereignty remain part of the foundation,” says Errol Norlum, Chief Data & AI Officer at Advania Sweden.
Sovereignty built into the architecture
Advania ALT is designed to give customers greater control over where and how their data and AI workloads are handled. Depending on their requirements, the platform supports different levels of data sensitivity and deployment, while maintaining governance and auditability across the environment.
This is particularly relevant for organisations operating in regulated sectors or handling sensitive information, where AI adoption needs to meet increasingly demanding requirements for data sovereignty, transparency and compliance.
Advania ALT also provides visibility into AI usage and associated costs, helping customers understand and manage AI consumption as adoption grows. The platform is being developed to provide greater insight into AI related energy consumption and environmental impact over time.
Turning Advania's AI strategy into action
Data and AI is one of Advania's three strategic growth initiatives, alongside cyber resilience and total lifecycle management. The initiatives build on Advania's decentralised model by combining strong local customer relationships and market expertise with shared capabilities and investments where working across borders creates additional value.
The first version of Advania ALT is now being introduced to customers in Sweden, with the platform also launching in Denmark, Finland, Iceland, Norway, the United Kingdom and Ireland.

About Advania
Advania is a Northern European IT services provider operating across seven markets: Denmark, Finland, Iceland, Ireland, Norway, Sweden, and the UK. The company works with mid-market enterprises and public sector organisations where IT complexity is high and the stakes of getting it right are real.
Advania supports the full lifecycle of IT, from advisory and architecture through to implementation, managed services, and ongoing improvement. Its approach is vendor-neutral, built around matching the right technology to each organisation rather than promoting a fixed stack. Core capabilities span cloud, cyber resilience, and artificial intelligence, alongside hardware lifecycle and circular IT services.
With approximately 5,000 employees, Advania operates through a model that keeps decision-making close to customers while drawing on shared expertise and scale across markets. The result is the kind of relationship depth usually associated with local providers, combined with the capability range of a larger organisation.
